East Diablo Youth Soccer League

2010 EDYSL REC (Division 4) Program
The club philosophy is that development of EDYSL players and how we play the game is a greater priority than winning. Our focus is to place more importance on skillful and creative play that will produce better soccer players and ultimately better people.

Kicking is Not Soccer (KINS) Program for U6, U7 and U8 teams.  The KINS program’s main objective is to promote and emphasize the skill of DRIBBLING and discourage the aimless booting of the ball that is all too prevalent at these young ages.  More detailed information regarding this program will be available soon.

2010 EDYSL Competitive Programs
A review of the past several years of the organization and programming of our competitive programs along with player/parent surveys have both indicated a necessary change to the organization and coaching structure.

The plan to be implemented is built upon several key points:

  • Players need a better technical foundation - The foundation of a soccer player is their technique. Coaches will consistently reinforce techniques to give players more confidence with the ball.
  • Developmentally appropriate teaching of tactics - individual, group (backs, midfielders, forwards) and team.
  • Players need to strive to win - in both training and game environments.
  • Coaching staffs primary focus is on development of the individual player - This in the long run will produce success at the appropriate ages.
